Immersed in the digital world, luminous green data stacks provide a scaffold for a mitosis of orbiting digi-sapiens. Like frenetic bees in a hive, these disembodied eyes appear crazed to a human viewer. They cannot comprehend the speed at which a digi-sapien collects, collates and synthesises visual, textual and numerical information in its natural environment. The uniform and indistinguishable eyes express the anonymity of created digital identities. In Digi-sapien: pre, the unblinking eyes spin through the data stacks, collecting a plethora of digital information. Several of the eyes veer towards the viewer and peer at the homo sapiens with interest as if they were a relic from a bygone age. In Digi-sapien: post, the camera pans out to reveal the finite nature of the data stacks. By collaborating with AI, the previously symbiotic digi-sapiens become visibly more independent. They spin recklessly away from the data networks and into the viewers’ world. This new evolution of digi-sapien is emboldened and free to interact with anyone it encounters - be they physical, virtual or somewhere in-between.
